An Australian traveller, Duncan McNaught, has captured the hearts of many online after sharing his touching experience at the Golden Temple in Amritsar — calling India’s hospitality “truly unmatched.

Currently journeying across India, McNaught shared a video on Instagram showing how warmly he was welcomed by Gaurav, a local resident who went above and beyond to make him feel at home. From treating him to traditional Indian meals to accompanying him on his visit to the Golden Temple, Gaurav ensured McNaught experienced the true spirit of Indian warmth and kindness.

In his video, McNaught said, “The hospitality of Indians is just unmatched, like any other in the world.”

He also praised India’s beauty, diversity, and rich culture, acknowledging that while every country has its share of challenges, the good in India far outweighs the negatives. “It’s sad to see how India is sometimes portrayed to the world,” he said.

Social media users resonated deeply with his words — one commented, “I agree 110 percent. I went there recently and it was amazing, especially the people.”Another added, “India’s definition of ‘rich’ is very different from the rest of the world!”

The Golden Temple, one of Sikhism’s most sacred sites, continues to be a beacon of peace and generosity — values that visitors like McNaught experience firsthand.
